The Association

The Irish Draught Horse Breeders Association was formed to preserve and promote the integrity of Irish Draught Breed.

The Association’s Members work throughout Ireland in conjunction with the Department of Agriculture Fisheries & Marine, and Horse Sport Ireland, in creating the atmosphere for the protection of this indigenous species.

In this work the Association arranges for Setting the Standards for Judging. IDHBA Judges undergo a rigorous assessment & training period.

The assessment & Grading of Irish Draught Stallions & Mares takes place yearly in Spring and Autumn to ensure that the best in breed is retained for future breeding purposes.

The IDHBA hold a number of shows throughout Ireland via its Branch network which involve Judging & Competitions. They also hold a National Breed Show annually .
