Edwin McLoughlin credits his late uncle Bobby Harrison with his initial involvement with Irish Draughts.
His first purchase was a filly by Flagmount Diamond in 1985.  Known as Anne Diamond she won the Three Year old Championship, and many other shows for her owner.

Edwin still retains a stallion son of Anne Diamond at his home in Newbliss, Co. Monaghan, Supreme Ginger, RID 863, a dark bay horse standing 16.3 hh by Ginger Dick, born in 1995.  This stallion was jumped up to 1.20 metre by John McGuinness and accumulated over 100 SJI points for Edwin before retiring to stud.

Involved with the Cavan/Monaghan Branch of the Association Edwin is well known both inside and outside the show ring.

Edwin has bred many excellent Irish Draughts among them his stallion, Supreme Ginger who was Balmoral 5 year old showjumping champion in 2000 and Reserve Champion ID stallion at RDS in 2002 and winner of 1.20m championship at Balmoral in 2004.He also bred Darragh Vision who among her numerous achievements was ID Broodmare Supreme Champion at Balmoral in 2005.
Also Edwin was the breeder of Darragh Classic Prince who was the first Irish Draught horse to win the Supreme Hunter Championship at the RDS in 2008. Currently Darragh Moylough Vision jumped four double clears at 1.20m last year giving him silver status. He will be campaigned again this season.
